3 Ingredient Backpacker Pasta
When I was backpacking my way around New Zealand, it sometimes wasn't always in my budget to afford the ingredients I needed to make a proper meal. This dish is something I quickly started making, oftentimes for free, as the ingredients were generally available in the free bin of most backpackers. You can always find seasoning and oil in the kitchens as standard (or at least grab the seasoning for free from most fast food establishments). Generally, there will also be pasta left over from other backpackers as they move on to their next destination, but if this is not the case, pasta is one of the cheapest ingredients you can find no matter what country you're in. This dish is filling, tasty enough, and will sate your hunger too!
Ingredients
- 1 portion pasta your preference
- 1 tbsp oil or butter/margarine your preference
- salt and pepper to taste
- garlic and (optional)
Instructions
- boil pasta according to packet instructions (I prefer al dente)
- drain and add your choice of butter or oil
- salt & pepper to taste
Notes
If adding garlic, add to butter or oil and gently fry before adding the pasta and seasoning. Of course, you can also add anything else you have lying around such as cheese, or any veggies you may have lying around in the fridge.
